Coffee for a Good Cause!

This project is a collaboration with climate action charity Size of Wales on the release of a new Peruvian, sustainably sourced coffee. For the Forests aims to raise awareness and vital funds for the Wampís Nation campaign to protect their land from extractive industries and deforestation.

£5 from each box sold will go to the charity to help support the Wampís nation and help fund their efforts in protecting forest territory and preventing threats to their land, livelihood and future.

Origin:

Velo de Novia, Peru

Process:

Washed

Tastes:

Blackberry, hazelnut and chocolate

Best for:

All methods

The Wampís Nation

The Wampís are an Indigenous, autonomous group who have called the Peruvian Amazon their home for over a thousand years. Their forests are vital to the global fight against climate change.

These forests make a significant contribution to climate action efforts in Peru and globally - in only two years, the Wampis territory is estimated to absorb the same amount of carbon as the total of Peru’s 10 year carbon reduction targets and despite significant industrial mining activity, has only been deforested at a rate of 2%. This is solely down to the efforts of the Wampis and their connection to their land, and in doing so absorbing carbon dioxide and providing the planet with a percentage of its oxygen.

However, it is becoming harder for this Indigenous community to protect these forests from extractive industries and deforestation. In buying this coffee, you are contributing to the Wampis campaign to monitor land use, challenge illegal activities and strengthen their voice.

Sustainable Packaging

Our objective was to produce packaging with as low an impact on deforestation as possible, while also championing recyclability. To achieve this, we chose Extract, a forest-friendly stock made from recycled coffee cups. This was made possible by a partnership with G . F Smith

Ground Level

For the Forests is the second project to come out of Ground Level , Hard Lines’ social action programme designed to contribute to lasting positive change in the communities we are part of - locally, nationally and globally - through building meaningful partnerships and taking collaborative direct action.

Whole Bean
Swayed by the branding, staying for the beans

I’m a sucker for the branding - this coffee caught my eye in a shop and I had to buy. Not only does the packaging look great on my counter (and the smiling cup make me feel happy every morning) - the beans are second to none. We tried the Wilder Garcia first and loved it - we are now on the house blend which is equally good. Very pleased with the quality and taste of these beans - and the freshness ! Thanks a lot - will be returning !

One of my favourite coffee beans ever!

Honestly, these beans are hands down one of the best beans I’ve tasted (and I’ve tasted lots!). Flavour is obviously personal but it’s fruity yet rich, and makes a gorgeous flat white at home with a coffee machine!
