We are looking for a Chef to join our Kitchen team, at our Cafe in Canton.
The team consistently puts out some of the best food you can find in Cardiff and we are excited to be looking for someone to join them. The right person will have at least 1 year of professional experience in a fresh food kitchen but most importantly will be a great fit with the team and wants to be part of an exciting, growing and friendly business. The Role
- Chef at our busy cafe in Canton, Cardiff
- Main duties are service, preparation,baking and general house-keeping
- Opportunity to input into designing monthly Specials Menu & event work
- 32 - 36 hours per week (we will be flexible for the right person) across 4 days including at least one weekend shift per week
- Daytime shifts, with the likelihood of evening prep shifts in rotation
- Reporting to Kitchen Manager
- Ideal start date - mid January ‘25
About You
You will have an active interest in seasonal produce, modern food and drink and be up for mastering and collaborating on a menu inspired by American west coast diners and local seasonal produce. This role will suit someone who enjoys working as part of a small team, is hard-working, has excellent attention to detail and brings a positive attitude to work each day.
Essential experience
- At least 1 year experience working in a fresh food kitchen
- At least 1 year experience working in a busy catering environment
- Up to date knowledge and ability to adhere to current food hygiene standards.
Desirable experience
- An interest in working with a team to create specials
- Current food hygiene certificate (we can provide training if necessary)
- Competent in preparing baked goods.

- Starting wage is £12.20 (increasing in line with UK Real Living Wage)

Deadline
The deadline for all applications is Wednesday 11th December at 5pm. Early applications are encouraged however as we may close applications early if suitable candidates are identified.
Selection Process
- Shortlisted candidates will be invited to an informal interview with the Kitchen Manager and one other member of the team
- Following a successful informal interview, shortlisted candidates will be invited to a trial shift at the cafe in Canton, supervised by the Kitchen Manager. All trial shifts are paid and will take place in December / January
